Giving a franchise restaurant its own personality without losing brand recognition is a challenge. This is the task that the ‘La Mafia se sienta a la mesa’ project team undertook for this new gastronomic space located in Lisbon. ‘The idea is that not everything looks the same, that within the same premises you discover different furniture, corners or rooms’, explains Javier Floristán, CEO of the company.

In a struggle between the modern and the rustic, highlighted in different rooms within the same space, the leitmotiv of La Mafia is maintained through the details: cutlery, glassware, crockery, table linen... All of this accompanied by an interior design that combines the natural with the industrial.

To reflect this Italian atmosphere, clearly inspired by Tuscany, we needed a materiality with realistic finishes that would allow an appropriate combination of chromatisms. ‘Finsa's wide range of solutions helped us to achieve this realism and plasticity in the production of the elements that make up the restaurant,’ explains Eva Galán, project coordinator at La Mafia.

The establishment's floor, covered with Finfloor Supreme Herringbone Orleans Vintage, adds an air of timeless elegance and uncompromising resilience, crucial in a high-traffic environment such as a restaurant. The texture and tone of the laminate recreates the nobility of antique wood, bringing warmth and a welcoming feeling that invites diners to relax and enjoy their dining experience.

Contrasting with the rustic beauty of the floor, Fimaplast Champagne Metallic Moon was used to clad the columns, injecting a contemporary and sophisticated touch to the space. This material, with its metallic finish and champagne hue, captures and reflects light in a subtle way, enhancing the lighting and contributing to an enveloping and distinguished atmosphere. In addition, Fimaplast Olmo Sabi Boreal was the design selected to design one of the most striking pieces of furniture in the premises, a sophisticated shelving unit that also serves as a room divider.

The rusticity of Finfloor Supreme Herringbone Orleans Vintage and the grace of Fimaplast's Elm Sabi Boreal and Champagne Metallic Moon designs were the solutions for flooring, furniture and column panelling respectively. These finishes demonstrated how the choice of quality materials can be the key to harmonising a design that respects a brand's heritage while celebrating its constant evolution.
