Espacio Experimento: design for a creative community
The space houses the office of Plutarco, a studio that used Fibraplast in the design of the furniture that gives personality to the space.
Experimento is also the name of a creative community and agency. Beyond the coworking spaces to which we are accustomed, the Experimento space was born with the aim of providing a setting for the meeting of design, architecture, food design, technology, cinema, fashion, advertising, branding, music, art and media. communication. "We seek to create an intellectual and social environment that, through the exchange of knowledge, is capable of generating new projects, movements and actions that enrich the design scene in Madrid", explain Enrique Ventosa and Ana Armas, founders of Plutarco and authors of the design of the space.
Color is essential in this project. "It is used to give each space a unique personality and allows us to sectorize a very long premises." The more public rooms are near the entrance and the more private ones at the back. In addition to the area for workstations, the space has three meeting areas with a very personal character:
• Naked room is an open space with raw white walls and a neutral concrete floor, designed to host events, workshops, presentations and photo sessions.
• Red room is a fully equipped kitchen with a total maroon look, with two curtains around the perimeter for photo sessions. It can also be used for informal breakfasts or lunches or small meetings.
•Dark Room is the most special room. Completely painted in dark blue, it has a long table for 22 people that can be divided into three or can become a completely open space.
This space is also Plutarch's headquarters and, therefore, his letter of introduction. For them “it is important that the space where our day-to-day activities take place has to do with how we approach projects”. That is why they focused on the design of the space by applying many different solutions and finishes, "so that it would work practically like a showroom".
Fibraplast Burdeos for a total red kitchen
Among all these solutions are Finsa's Fibraplast boards, with a Blue finish on the work tables and cabinets in the workstations, and with a Bordeaux finish in the kitchen of the Red room. Raised as a total look in that color, "Finsa was one of the few manufacturers that offered it" in its catalog, they say. "Apart from the wide range of colors, we decided on Finsa because of the confidence that a company that we knew works very well brings." Ventosa and Arana were aware of the company's specific projects, such as our #FinsabyEnvisions collaboration, "in which material and design go together perfectly."
Although it may not seem like it due to its spectacular result, it is the first time that Plutarco faced the design of a work space. Given this challenge, they tried to provide elements that would give warmth to the space, such as the use of wood on the floor, the combination of neutral lighting from above and other extra lighting at the height of the tables, and even "a false patio that would allow us to think that we were out.”
