Finsa presents an emotional look at light sculptures at Milan Design Week
“Underlight, design as nature by Finsa x Arturo Álvarez” is a collaboration with the Galician artist that proposes a sensorial journey from the forest to spaces built with wood

For the seventh consecutive year, we participate in the international benchmark design event, Milan Design Week. We will do it with Underlight, design as nature by Finsa x Arturo Álvarez, a proposal of a sensorial journey from the forest to spaces built in wood, through four light sculptures made by the artist Arturo Álvarez. In addition, we will be part of three spaces of other brands through the application of product: the lighting brand Qu Lighting and the architectural studios One Works and Dainelli Studio.
Underlight can be visited in the Brera District -during Brera Design Week- inside the 19th century palace at Via Solferino 17, headquarters of the College of Architects of Milan and its Foundation, and its installation has been designed by the architectural studio Parisotto + Formenton, the installation invites the public to discover the life cycle of wood and its role in the construction of the spaces we inhabit. It will be open to visitors from April 7 to 13.
Through Arturo Álvarez's light sculptures, a sensorial journey is undertaken that highlights all those invisible processes that are at the base of the creation of a product and that, for Finsa, begin with the care of forests and end with the connection with people. With this participation in Milan Design Week, Finsa takes on the challenge of the Fuorisalone 2025 theme, “Thought for Humans”, with the idea of placing the human being at the centre and remembering that each project must respond, with emotional intelligence, to the needs of the individual.

The installation consists of four light sculptures located in four rooms, each of which represents a phase of the wood cycle and its relationship with humans:
- “Primary Habitat”: The forest is represented as the point of origin, the beginning of Finsa’s life cycle, without which nothing could exist.
- “Cyclical processes”: The process as an expression of the fragmentation and reconstruction of wood, a symbol of the circularity of the production process.
- “Waves of Connection”: The Atlantic Ocean as a global connector, the ocean as a bridge between nature, culture and innovation, defining Finsa’s global identity.
- “Organic Force”: Wood and people illustrate the dialogue between humans and materials, a relationship that evolves and transforms through design.
Parallel to Underlight. Design as nature by Arturo Álvarez, the headquarters of the College of Architects of Milan, in collaboration with Finsa, will host the exhibition dedicated to the European Architecture Prize winners Matilde Baffa and Ugo Rivolta. The exhibition, which will be on display in the courtyard, will showcase the winning projects from the ninth and latest edition of the award, dedicated to the best European projects in the field of social housing.
At Finsa, with our long-standing commitment to the design community, we are participating in Fuorisalone 2025 with innovative solutions in three prominent venues in Milan, showcasing the versatility of our materials in different applications through prestigious locations and collaborators. These collaborations allow us to foster highly inspiring creative relationships through a diverse range of professional profiles that nourish both parties with a 360-degree view of the world of design. At Casa Fiocchi, together with Qu Lighting and the Parisotto+Formenton studio, we contribute our expertise in technical wood with a system of Heat-treated wood decking for exteriors, ensuring durability and aesthetics in the outdoor area.
At the Università Statale di Milano, within the Dainelli Studio project for Interni Magazine, its materials are integrated into the boiserie and furniture, with panels of Fimapan for banks and Fibrapan with HPL finishes in the designs Terracota Nova and Azul Handy from the Finsa Design collection for bookcases, providing strength and design.
Finally, in the One Works immersive installation, we supplied the panels for Fibrapan MDF, used in the walls of the labyrinth, the central tower and the platform, contributing to a sensory experience that emphasizes circularity and the reuse of materials.
