How much home can you fit inside eighty square meters?
We analyse a home refurbishment in which durable materials and flexible furniture are focal points for the creation of space.
“CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN THE KEY POINT IN THIS PROJECT: WE ASK FOR A SAMPLE AND IT IS WITH US THE NEXT DAY. THIS IS A SERVICE THAT IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE REST OF THE BRANDS”
ALBERTO CORZÓN, CORZÓN ARCHITECTS.
In big cities, there are no extra square metres. Making spaces appear larger in terms of scale is one of the specific strengths of the Corzón Architects studio. In this home refurbishment, they showed off all their best work in order to transform eighty square meters into a functional home. How did they do it? Let's analyse it in detail.
“The made-to-measure, multifunctional furniture becomes one of the tools we use to make the most of medium-sized spaces, which are so characteristic of big cities” explains Alberto Corzón, the architect. This project was asking for so much to be done with so little: a table that would feed ten people, an extra large sofa and a cantilevered fireplace. How do you bring all this together? “By generating a continuous diaphanous space, with a kitchen floor that uses the same material,” explains Corzón.
The challenge of the project was to use a material that was durable, and that also upheld the studio's key principle: to use elements that are as natural as possible. Finfloor Supreme Tango Santorini Ash offered the solution, combining design (thanks to a wide range of products) and quality (principally resistance to humidity) in a kitchen that is linked to the rest of the rooms in the space.
What importance does the studio attribute to materials? “Finsa's technical wood is very successful; it almost looks natural,” says Corzón. “We could say that customer service has been a key point in this project: we ask for a sample and it is with us the next day. This is a service that is far superior to the rest of the brands we work with, and it gives us an advantage in terms of agility, because we can also then provide a comprehensive service to our customers,” he adds.
The brilliant execution of this home refurbishment has led to the Corzón Architects studio being featured in Elle Décor and Interiores magazine, highlighting their use of Finfloor's white continuous flooring to break up divided boundaries and generate a greater sense of spaciousness.
